IMPORTANT!!!
It has come to our attention that the festival of Eid is due to fall on either the 7th or 8th July, the end of our Summer School week. Therefore after careful consideration we have decided to change the Summer School to a three-day intensive programme, from Monday 4th – Wednesday 6th July 2016.
Completing the application form
- To apply you will see you need to "buy" a ticket and upon completion will receive an "order confirmation" - please note there are no charges involved with Target Medicine and the order confirmation is not a guarantee of your place, it is simply the wording used by the website.
It is vital that you are happy with your answers before submitting your application as it cannot be amended afterwards.
- Once you have submitted your application you will receive a confirmation email with a copy of your answers attached. THIS IS NOT CONFIRMATION OF YOUR ACCEPTANCE ONTO THE SUMMER SCHOOL.
- You will then be contacted within one month of the deadline (so by Wednesday 18th May) and told if you have been accepted onto the scheme. As you can imagine, we receive hundreds of application forms, so please do not contact us to chase your application.
Target Medicine Summer School is a non-residential, three-day scheme for Year 11 students from London-based, non-selective state schools. There are 48 places available and the event takes place at UCL’s Royal Free (Hampstead) and Bloomsbury campuses. Students are mentored by two medical students and get the opportunity to meet patients, nurses and doctors, engage in simulated emergency clinical situations and visit one of the local hospitals.
The Summer School helps students find out what life is like as a medical student and as a doctor. It aims to be inspirational and to give students the confidence to pursue medicine as a career. It also puts students in touch with like-minded peers.
To apply you must:
- be a year 11 student thinking of studying medicine
- attend a non-selective state school with a London postcode (N, NW, SW, SE, E, EC, W, WC), or a non-selective state school in the boroughs of Brent, Barnet, Enfield or Waltham Forest
- have predicted GCSE grade B and above in Maths, English and Science
- be able to attend every day of the Summer School.
If you do not meet ALL of this criteria, please DO NOT apply. Unfortunately we are not able to accept applications from non-London, private school or international students. If you are not eligible for our scheme but would like more information on becoming a medical student, visit the NHS Medical Careers website.
Deadline for applications: 9am on Monday 11th April 2016
We will contact you by: Wednesday 18th May 2016
